Just in a day's work.

While working the other day at the Homeless Veteran Stand Down I had a chance to meet a remarkable young man that represented and agency that I had not heard of. When he explain just what they did, I felt that I needed to share the mission of the group and the wonderful things that they do in helping  individuals, 17 and older. That might be at risk of going to jail for breaking rules as they are related to the City of Milwaukee ordinance violations, which is about eight hundred and some paged document.
Check it out: http://city.milwaukee.gov/ImageLibrary/Groups/ccClerk/Ordinances/Volume-1/Master-V1.pdf

This wonderful agency is Justice Point Municipal Court Alternatives Program.
However, they do not represent individuals in criminal cases. Yet the services that they provide are many, such as evaluations to identify appropriate recommendations for fines with jail alternatives. community service referrals to nonprofit organizations. Referrals for mental health and/or substance abuse treatment. Referrals for employment services.Court recommendations for alternatives to satisfy unpaid fines  and resolve outstanding warrants. This is just a few the services that they can provide.

As Mothers, lovers and caregivers of felons, we need to exam all the resources that are available in the community. This also helps with our own healing by bringing solutions to having a child, lovers or love one who is now facing having their freedom reduced. Plus many time troubles are a sign that we all must change. Each person taking a loving look inside of one's self. And the worry and shame one must face. Yet you are no longer feeling like a victim. Knowledge is power as the story goes. Yet is applies knowledge that really gets the job done.

So with that said. Let's go and search for the solutions for the injustices that have been committed. To make this world a better world and lose the worry and the woe is me attitude. Arm ourselves with grace, knowledge and love. Find out the truth of the situtation and go forth.

Happy New Year!

To all that have taken the time to read my blog.  Although just like you I have had my up and downs. Challenges and issues. But in the end, we must find a way to make life better. First for self, then for our loved ones. Why self first? For you must have the strength to search for the correct answer as to your child, or loves one goes through the criminal justice system. Plus the effects of dealing with the system on your health and your other family members.

How do you deal with the pre-trail, bail, just to name a few? For in every case they do differ. Plus finding out if the crime fits the time.

So with this New Year, let explore more and write and expose the laws and their effects on our communities. So that we can all experience justices for all in a true sense.

No more blaming ourselves unjustly, but righting the wrongs with knowledge, understanding and love. In bringing humanity and accepting to the issues at hand while dealing with the criminal justice system.

Also, when you get a chance, please check out the two links below from on the informant law and the changes.  Thanks for your time. A very special Happy New Year. Let me know what you think.

Pardons, Expungement, and Commuted Sentences

Well, I went to recharge a few years ago. I attended a conference on legal matters.  I do like to make sure that I am up to date on my facts and what's new in the legal community.  And, One of the great things I've learned is, it's great to know the history of life.  But, I also gained knowledge, and just wanted to ask did you know the difference between a been pardon, expungement, and, a commute sentence and how to get one? I didn't. Plus their outcomes.
Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers is granting expungement now. Here is the link to get the job done.

Check with your state to see the ruling

COMMUTE:
A commuted sentence is a form of clemency that reduces the punishment for a crime. It usually takes the form of a reduced (“commuted”) prison term, but can also reduce court-ordered fines.
A commuted sentence replaces the original, court-ordered sentence. A controversial example is ex-President Bush’s 2007 decision to commute Scooter Libby’s 30-month prison sentence.

When looking at these options: commute, pardon, and expungement one must look up your state ruling, consider and how it will affect the life of your child, his/ or her case, and whether your child or loved one will qualify for either.

As always take care of yourself first. if you are ill, you cannot help anyone until you are fit and in good condition.

The Letter

Well my son calls the other day to tell me he would be sending me a letter and he needed a reply.

The letter and I would like to share my reply. After all this is for the Mothers and lovers and caregivers that will one day face this challenge. Whether you chose to or not. But you will do something like fasting and pray during this time period. Or do you go and ease your pain the best you know how. Or just roll with it and try to pay it off buying and attorney. Choices must be made. All should be thought over, Even the evidence, that your child's being accused of should examine.

Now If you don't remember the blog about my son before. It's titled "The Release".
Here is my reply to his request to say how I was victimized by his chemical use and criminal activity.
Many of us questions ourselves as to whether we have suffered from our children actions. Here can be the underlining causes why developed illness from covering up the pain, and humiliation of their behavior or is it the other people faults. Whatever it is, not only do we need to question the criminal justice system but we need to question ourselves and the environment around us.

The Open Letter:

Dear Malik

May God's Peace and Blessing be with you, As always it is a great pleasure to hear from you.   And the fact that you are working on your self improvement.

All is well with me, plus we all will  be glad for your Home Coming.

Now to reply to your question "how I was Victimized by your chemical use and criminal activity". Well your chemical use I have no knowledge of that. But the criminal activity did hurt.  The money wasted on buying cars after you steal the car. The stealing of money That I saving for you'll future.
Robbing the gas station where I buy gas at. Then the feeling of being a real loser when I had to look in the face of the woman you almost took her life and for what? Drained that what I would feel at the end of all of this.

And the bad part you have missed the greatest part of being a family.  The family out ting and celebrations. And even your grandparents passing. Just to say the least.

At first I felt it was all my fault. After all I left your cheating father. But I could not have lived a lie for a life.

Release.

It's been a while since I could deal with my thoughts, emotions and what else I was going through!

My oldest son caught a case once again. Well, of course, he being my child, I had and have to deal with the emotions of is he guilty or not. And when he tells the story he will always be innocent. Even though the courts have videos to say different.

Well, my point for writing this is to get out into the universe in order for me to release. To speak to other mothers, lovers and caregivers of felons. For the others, that might be going through the same thing. Plus taking the chance to see where is the positive in all of woes and worry of this matter. And the lessons I've learned from all of this. And my healing, to say the least. The stress of this matter can bring about dis ease.  If not dealt with properly, through proper diet. exercise the very things the wellness guru tell us to do.

However. with me reading over the charges against him. He sure didn't make look like a martyr.
And once again I am feeling like a loser.  And blame myself for all the reasons, one of not having enough money to live in a better neighborhood. Plus, what was my role in this matter? Victim or advocate? Since your love, one has made a choice either right or wrong. And now it is your turn as to how you will process the situation.

As a mother of a felon, I chose to not see myself as helpless or powerless. But as a crusader dealing with the life situation that I must face and others. We are not our children. For they have lives that they must live. And experiences that only they can go through. For there are lessons that they must learn.

Cause when I go over the situation he had placed his self in. I have to throw my hands up and thanks the invisible force that was with him that day the cops pulled him over in riot gear, with shots guns. For he could have been in that number of young black men shot by the police, unarmed.
He had no drugs or guns, in his possession.

But the police did have the evidence videotapes with him and the police informant. So he being guilty will be guilty as charged. They have it all on tape  However there are laws dealing with the use of video in making a case against a person. I was just surprised in the fact the casino that brought the charges against my son was allow three-time to come back with the actual tapes. Did you know that the taping of one voice is not allowed? See VideoUniversity website for more information and other articles at: http://www.videouniversity.com/articles/video-surveillance-laws/

Do the system prey on the weak and foolish with the temptation of a Good Life. Or the weak and foolish are their own Ermine's? For thinking that in the drug game, that there is a fortune to be had by them that take part in it?

However, as the one concerned with the situation like this, you can look at the transcripts of the charges. They can be found at the Clerk of Courts office.

Thanks for your time in this matter. What do you think or what have you experienced?

Right to work, in Wisconsin or not?

Right to work, in Wisconsin or not?

MOTHERS OF Felons had chance to talk Governor Scott Walker.
In a brief conversation with the Governor Walker. A question was asked “If your vision is to move Wisconsin Forward what about the felons getting Pardons. Since “According to census data compiled by the Employment and Training Institute at the UW-Milwaukee in April, 12.8 percent of the state's African American men are behind bars — twice the national average and well ahead of second-place Oklahoma, where 10 percent of black men are incarcerated.”Read more: http://host.madison.com/news/local/writers/steven_elbow/bbc-looks-at-wisconsin-s-highest-in-nation-incarceration-rate/article_b1af2c4a-eb50-5ef8-afd3-51eb3c12af82.html#ixzz2s1FqDCpd

Last week also, in the President’s state of the Union address. The president put in place the Opportunity Act. That would help the unemployed to find work and train and the underemployed to get a pay raise that are working for federal contractors. So like the president, that is working to get Americans working again. The Governor Walker wants to move Wisconsin Forward, is his motto.

Yet, in this great state of Wisconsin, the Governor is not doing any pardons. Thus, locking out a population that cannot get food stamps, federal aid to return to school, nor public housing and often time denied jobs because of records. My grandmother had a saying “if a man do not work he will steal.”

Let’s assist Governor Walker in taking another look at not doing Pardon. Buy calling his constituent line at (608) 266-1212 or writing his office http://walker.wi.gov/content/contact-us to tell him we want all that is able to work, work.

Register your voice on this matter. So Wisconsin can move forward as one, instead of some.
